At TPR Endurance Coaching, our mission is simple: to help you reach your athletic potential. We take an athlete-first approach, blending cutting-edge science and the latest research in endurance sports to craft personalized training plans that work. Whether you're preparing for your first race or aiming to become a professional athlete, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
Dylan McMurrer is the Head Coach of TPR Endurance Coaching. A certified coach with USAT and TrainingPeaks, Dylan brings 8 years of experience to the table, having coached athletes across a wide range of endurance sports, including triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, 5K to ultra-marathon running, crit and endurance cycling, and marathon swimming. As a Professional Triathlete competing in his first professional season in 2025, Dylan brings a blend of real-world experience and expertise to his coaching. What he loves most about coaching is working closely with athletes to discover the best training methods for their individual needs and goals.
TPR stands for Tripod Rock, a name that holds personal significance to me, but doesn’t involve my own name. Tripod Rock is a massive boulder perfectly balanced atop three smaller rocks. As you can see in the picture, it defies logic. The smaller rocks don’t seem capable of supporting such a large, heavy stone, and yet it does. This rock has always fascinated me. As a child, my family would hike to it, and I was initially drawn to it because of its “magical abilities”, my parents would hide chocolates near the rock to make the hike more enticing. But as I grew older, I came to appreciate the physics behind how the rock stays balanced, and it continues to amaze me to this day.
To me, Tripod Rock serves as a metaphor for my approach to coaching. The large rock represents the goals and dreams that my athletes strive to achieve. My role as a coach is to find the right balance of support and training that helps them reach these goals. Each of the three supporting rocks has a unique shape and size, much like every athlete is different. Each person requires a personalized plan to achieve their individual goals.
From a triathlon perspective, I see the supporting rocks as swimming, biking, and running, the three disciplines that make up the sport. Just as the smaller rocks vary in size and shape, every athlete has different strengths in these disciplines. Ultimately, all three rocks, just like all three sports, are equally important in supporting the big rock and achieving success in triathlon.
